Basic SWAT (Level 1)

This course is the foundational entry point for law enforcement officers assigned to, or preparing for, a tactical team. It establishes the core mindset, discipline, and team-based fundamentals required to operate effectively in a SWAT environment.

Designed for real-world application, this training focuses on building competent, reliable operators who understand their role within the team and can execute under pressure. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals—because in high-risk operations, there is no substitute for doing the basics right every time.

Core Areas of Instruction:

• SWAT mindset, discipline, and team culture
• Fundamental movement and positioning (individual and team)
• Room entry and clearing techniques (CQB basics)
• Use of cover, angles, and threat prioritization
• Breaching fundamentals (mechanical/limited exposure)
• Introduction to less-lethal and use-of-force considerations
• Basic tactical medicine and casualty response
• Communication, command presence, and team coordination

Students will work through hands-on, scenario-based training that reinforces repetition, accountability, and performance under stress. Drills are designed to build confidence, eliminate hesitation, and develop cohesion within a team environment.
